Tredici: Siena

Two weekends ago my friend Rebecca and I took a day trip to the beautiful city of Siena. It is about an hour and 30 minutes from Florence is probably my second favorite Italian city after Firenze. The Duomo of Siena (the church with black and white stripes) is unlike any other in the world. The Piazza del Campo is a slanted piazza of red brick that is also quite unique to Siena. For those of you reading this (about 3 people in total!) who are considering traveling to this beautiful Tuscan city, make sure you order Picci when you are there, it is the special pasta of Siena and is very delicious!

Dodici: Carnivale a Viareggio!

This is VERY delayed...but in February for the festival of Carnivale my program took us to see the giant parade of colossal floats in the seas-side town of Viareggio. Almost all of the floats were political satires that commentated on current events. Even though it rained for practically the entire day, our fill of Carnivale was still incredibly fun.
